i confess i am not in love with this doll quilt, but my daughter tells me she LOVES it--so it's a success. i wanted something quick to work on, and settled on a doll quilt.
i used many of my little red ridinghood prints and was liking it okay, until i tried out a new quilting method (pebbles, first seen here). i think the pebble quilting is totally wrong for this quilt, and probably the reason i am not happy with it. the good news is i discovered that pebble quilting takes forever, and i probably won't try it again (maybe on a small quilt), but i do like the way it looks.

ReplyDeleteOh, this is so cute. Your daughter is so right to love it:))

I think its adorable! I need to *continue* practicing my pebble quilting so I can actually get good enough to do it on a QUILT!
ReplyDeleteWell done :-)
I don't think there is a "wrong way" to do the quilting. I think the quilt will grow to like it (that's what I keep telling myself!)

I think it's very cute! I've been hesitant to do pebble quilting just because it's time-consuming and requires a zillion yards of thread... one fine day I shall attempt it though!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! My daughter would adore this quilt, she's in a real 'little red riding hood' stage these days!
ReplyDeleteI can't stop staring! I am just smitten with this quilt! I cast my vote with your daughter :-)
ReplyDeleteI too love it! My daughter is going to be Little Red Riding Hood for Halloween this year and I was going to make her a little quilt too....also use that fancy photo paper to piece a picture of her on it...love your LRRH prints...you have some good ones!! Lucky!!
ReplyDeleteSometimes that happens, you aren't so happy with it, but others love it. I like it and am glad that your daughter loves. Sometimes you just have to try new things.
ReplyDeleteI love it, too! It's a beautiful little quilt.
ReplyDeletemy first thought was "LOVE IT!"
ReplyDeletemy second thought was "WANT IT!"
my third thought was "I SHOULD MAKE IT!"
gorgeous. :)
I like it too! My first though was "it looks like bubbles" - I've never seen that kind of quilting yet obviously :)
ReplyDeletedoll quilts are great for experimentation and kids make great quilt owners. good for you for giving the pebbles a try!
ReplyDeleteI love the red with white dots! I think its really cute and your daughter loves it and that's what counts!
ReplyDeleteIt's a fabulous quilt...I love the red!

Hmm, I have to agree with you on the pebble quilting on this one. As long as the recipient is in love with it then all is good in the world. Hope the pregnancy continues to go well.
ReplyDeleteThe last quilt I have completed I used pebble FMQ. At first I really did not like it, but it took a while to fall in love with it. Can't say much if the quilt pattern suits pebbling since I myself just getting use to it.
ReplyDeleteWell; I'm in love:-)
ReplyDeleteI agree that pebbles take for ever; but they add such a lovely texture to a quilt, just like they do to your.
I find them hard to combine with other kinds of quilting though, they tend to shrink the quilted area much more than other quilting. I just had to steam press a quilt to make it flat again after adding pebbles to an already finished quilt.
Nettie, It's lovely....how are you feeling :)
ReplyDeleteI adore fairy tales and this is one of my favorites! What a fabulous backdrop the red dotted fabric is!!! I love it!
