i've seen so many disappearing nine patch quilts lately, and have decided to try one myself. at first i didn't know if i liked this pattern, but this, this and this (and others) have convinced me that i do. one more.
it's not only a SUPER easy pattern, but a great way to use up charm packs that seem to accumulate. for this quilt i'm using charm packs from Tula Pink's, Nest line. i am smitten with how clever she is. she "hides" things in her designs, birds in this line...insects in her flutterby line.
very clever.
and i also really LOVE the colors... a few close ups:

I love the look of this! I also have a "Nest" charm pack but haven't decided what to do with it yet ... this might just be the answer!
ReplyDeleteCute! I love "Nest" and all of Tula Pink's fabrics.
ReplyDeleteLove Tula - Nest looks fantastic here!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I did a disappearing 9-patch with the flutterby sent of charm packs.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it's going to be amazing!
ReplyDeleteI haven't done a disappearing 9 patch yet, either. every time i see one I think I should give it a shot. I love that it can use charm packs! they do seem to collect, don't they?
ReplyDeleteIf you keep giving me so many new "nudges" I just do not know what I will do next! Thank you! Fabulous colors!
ReplyDeleteI love Tula Pink's fabrics too. . . such vibrant colors :) Love your progress!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt will be lovely, once it has been finished. I have bought the pale green and blue bird fabric also. I just made a burp cloth out of it as yet.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading you previous blog entry I bought a stash of the same kind of vibrant pastal colors! I love these shades. It makes you happy every time you see them.
Funny I should read your blog today, I am teaching a class on that pattern this morning at the quilt Shop I work for. Should be getting ready instead of reading blogs!
ReplyDeleteI actually made a tutorial for this a while back when I had my baby.
Good job on your pretty quilt.
i love these fabrics too. nice work!
ReplyDeleteLove the fabrics in this quilt-so fun to see this pattern made in different fabrics! I've made this quilt, a few times, too, although I made it using the "Tossed Nine Patch" Signature Pattern by Eleanor Burns. You can see mine on my flickr page:

Someone just asked me about a pattern for that the other day and I googled and found one for her. I had heard of a disappearing nine patch but didn't know what they looked like. Love your colors. Great use of charm packs.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I just love this pattern & have been hooked on it for months. I've made many using charm packs of Maypole, Prairie Paisley, Simplicity, Portugal, Woodland Bloom, Merry & Bright, Summers Basket of Flowers, etc. Did I mention I was hooked on charm packs & this pattern? LOL I love how quickly the quilt goes together & you can make it any size you want by just making more blocks. I love your Nest quilt!
ReplyDeleteI love the scrapy disappearing 9 patch. Yours is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteNellie, it is gorgeous...love the color combo. Great job! Have I told you lately...you have a lovely blog.
ReplyDeleteI cant wait to see it finished. That fabric line is gorgeous!
ReplyDeletewhat a fun pattern and yours looks great!
ReplyDeletewow. i have a new favorite!
ReplyDeleteI feel very dumb but are you talking about nine patches made from charm squares that are cut or not cut?
ReplyDeleteIf not cut then I assume you are using 9 differnt charms in each block???
Would love to know as I have heaps of charm squares.
hi ozjane, here's a tutorial for the disappearing ninepatch! Good luck.
ReplyDeleteamandajean, i heard about it here.
