selvage (or selvedge) love

Don't we all love the selvage on our fabrics? I do, especially the color dots. Perhaps it's an extension of my polka-dot love.

Recently I have seen several projects(here, here and here) using selvage that have me inspired. I've now diligently started collecting.

I have a small stash of japanese import fabric who's selvages are adorable (no surprise), so fun!

snowflakes
houses
apples
birds (my personal favorite)
and ice cream cones (my daughters favorite)***update***
(I can't believe I almost forgot this...)
I just love this cute little sewing machine on this one

  9. Those Japanese selvages are very nice!

Since I am culling to make room for the baby, my selvages were the first thing to go...

There is a book "From the selvage edge" where the author uses selvages in all of the quilts.

I still have too much stash - my quilts will have to use the "other" part of the fabric.

  10. I used to save mine and I've made "fabric" with them that I have. I just keep the fabric that I make by sewing them together and then when I need it, I have it. But I had so much I stopped. Now I'm sad I haven't kept up on it. Yours are so darling.
