Recently I have seen several projects(here, here and here) using selvage that have me inspired. I've now diligently started collecting.
I have a small stash of japanese import fabric who's selvages are adorable (no surprise), so fun!
snowflakes

houses

apples

birds (my personal favorite)

and ice cream cones (my daughters favorite)

(I can't believe I almost forgot this...)
I just love this cute little sewing machine on this one

Cute! I have a whole selvedge collection waiting for inspiration myself.
ReplyDeleteI love selvedge, Vintage Ric Rac has LOADS of selvedge projects on her blog, the bag is one of my favourites: http://vintagericrac.blogspot.com/2008/03/selvedge-bag.html
ReplyDeleteGillian
hey what's the deal with selvedge? why do they have it anyway?
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness Gillian, you are right...that bag is adorable! I love it.
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me?? Oh my goodness, that is so cute! I love little details like that where the mundane becomes a space for creativity... Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThose snowflakes with the penguin tumbling on top---EEEK! I love it!
ReplyDeleteok, i'm jealous...i think you have the BEST selvedges!!!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has been collecting my selvedges for a while. She loves the color dots...she's an art student. I think one day there will be a project made from them. Your selvedges are adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteThose Japanese selvages are very nice!
ReplyDeleteSince I am culling to make room for the baby, my selvages were the first thing to go...
There is a book "From the selvage edge" where the author uses selvages in all of the quilts.
I still have too much stash - my quilts will have to use the "other" part of the fabric.
I used to save mine and I've made "fabric" with them that I have. I just keep the fabric that I make by sewing them together and then when I need it, I have it. But I had so much I stopped. Now I'm sad I haven't kept up on it. Yours are so darling.
