mendocino zigzag

I had a great quilting weekend...my husband was gone all day Saturday and it rained the entire day. The kids and I holed up in the playroom where they played and I quilted. I don't usually do housework on Saturday, so it was guilt-free quilt time!

I finished my zigzag quilt, I love the sharpness of it. Zigzags always remind me of ric-rac, and I absolutely love ric-rac.
If you've never felt Heather Ross' fabric, you must. It's the softest fabric ever, perfect for a baby quilt.
I used some of my lightning bugs fabric for the backing...I really love polka dots too! I used stripes for the binding, I debated between this stripe and the orange octopus. I wish I would've used the orange, but the stripes will have to do. available in my etsy shop.

  4. Oh it's SO nice! It might be the best zigzag quilt I've seen. Sometimes I find them a bit stark, but this combo of fabrics and colors is just perfect!

  6. I love your quilts. I LOVE the zigzag. I stumbled upon this site when I looked at your profile. Now I'm trying to convince myself to get back to work (yes, I'm at work) and that my actual lunch break is through. I've checked out a bunch of other quilting links attached to yours. Now I just want to go home and sew!!! I hope that someday I will not be working full time and will get more opportunities. I do not stitch well at night. I mostly un-stitch due to being too tired to think straight. ;) Fun Blog!

  9. Is that your personal pattern? Do you mind sharing the size of the squares? It is so cute.... I love it....

Our guild does charity quilts for Shriners Hospital for Children and this would make a great one...

  10. Hi Nancy, I'm sorry it took me so long to get you this info...this is not my personal pattern, it's loosely based on this pattern from the purl bee.

My squares were approximately 4 inches finished. I cut squares out @ 5 inches and made 2 half square triangles.

  13. you created this color scene, my dear. I see it everywhere now, orange, blue, white, with a dark blue somewhere around the center. Wasn't this your 2nd one like this?
