kaleidoscope

I am digging through my piles, sorting and accounting all the works in project I have going.  Here's the first I found and need to resurrect.  I started this one about a year ago.  I pinned this image on pinterest, because I loved the colors and knew they would be great in a quilt and I LOVE the colors...but, I don't know if I love this quilt.

I realize this is the beginning stages and it usually gets better.  The pattern is Kaleidoscope.  I wanted to reverse the colors, so the background would have color and the stars would be white.  I love it this way, but I wish I had done it in 2.5 inch squares.  I know that would have been more work, but it would've been more effective.  Oh well, I'm not starting over, and I really want to see it finished, so I will persevere.  haha.

Fall is still no where near making an appearance here in Houston, so it seems like good time to continue working on it.  Might help us get in the mood anyway.

  2. With every single one of my quilts I reach what I call Quilt Hate. My husband listens to my reasons why *this* quilt will be different and actually turn out awful then he says that he likes it and I always end up liking them. He's right, I always like them. But Quilt Hate is real, and it can be strong.
This looks great and clearly like it was work, the finish will make it worth sticking it out and finishing. Or you can go with my PlanB and send it to a relative who lives far away so you never have to see it again.

  3. Maybe some more pink would liven it up for you?

  4. I think it's beautiful. I know what you mean about 2.5" squares, but keep going. I bet you'll love it when it's done.

  5. I don't think it is working. The white stars don't stand out from the background. I think you need to lose the pale colors if you want the white to make a statement.

  8. I know you're so close to it so you can't see it, but this is a really lovely quilt. I adore those colors - you captured Fall very well! I often find that I become disillusioned sometimes with some quilts, but after the quilt has been quilted, I love it all over again.

  9. Oh, I like it very much! I like how some of the stars sort of fade away and some of them stand out. It makes it more interesting since the eye has to search out the pattern. I actually like your version way more than the original quilt. Love the colors!
