I finished this quilt up before we moved in October, but just barely got around to taking any pics. I'm not super in love with it. I like it enough, but something doesn't feel right. I'm not sure if it's the layout or the putty color...I can't put my finger on it, but that's okay, the point was to use up some scraps.
I decided to bind it in this small flower print (Children at Play) to make it a little more pretty, and it turned out to be my favorite part.
When I started this quilt I thought I'd make the whole quilt top scrappy, but changed my mind. I felt like it was getting too busy.
I love this print for backing. It also helps to pretty it up. This is it for 2011! (finally). Baby #4 is scheduled to come this week, so I'm pretty sure I won't be at my sewing machine for a while. Too bad, because I have really been feeling the itch!
It's lovely, if you ask me! I really like the rounded corners.
ReplyDeleteI really like it too!
ReplyDeleteI super love it! The quilting is great!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you don't like it. I like everything about it and I'm going to mark it for future inspiration. Cute, cute, cute! Toni
ReplyDeleteHow exciting...good luck with baby #4 coming...I hope all goes smoothly and that you enjoy that 2 day vacation in the hospital (my favorite part...minus the labor and it being really expensive).
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, and looks mega cozy!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and get tons of rest!
I think it's perfect - there is just enough 'scrappy' without overdoing it - the putty colour gives it a very striking modern edge and the binding pulls it all together. BE HAPPY IT'S SCRAPPY!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a most beautiful quilt! I'm sure you'll love it in time, sometimes you need to "sleep" on it to let the quilt grow on you.
ReplyDeletelove, love, love it!!! i love patchy scrappy quilts and the straight line quilting looks great!
ReplyDeleteGood luck this week! I'll be thinking of you.
ReplyDelete(As for the quilt, I love the concept and the quilting, but it does feel a little unbalanced. Maybe that's what's bothering you?)
I hope all goes well!
ReplyDeleteSuper exciting. I wish you an easy birth and a healthy baby!
ReplyDeleteI've never thought to do rounded corners, I'll have to try it out!

ReplyDeletelove it! i've been trying to decide what type of scrappy quilt to do and i like the idea of using a solid on the front like this.
ReplyDeletel.o.v.e. the binding and the rounded corners. I also like the putty colour, I think it gives the overall quilt a stillness, somewhere quiet to rest the eye.
ReplyDeletebaby no. 4 - good luck!

Stumbled across your blog & love your projects - so colorful & beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful quilt and the background colors really makes the other colors pop, love it. What is the background color?
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThe nice thing about quilts is that even if you don't like the finished product, it is still useable and will serve you well. I rather like it myself, it isn't your run of the mill design and you can bet no one else has one just like it. When you tire of looking at it, you can always tuck it between a couple of sheets or light weight blankets. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSusanne :)
I just love your style, Nettie. (And your taste in fabric. :))
ReplyDeleteBest, best wishes with baby #4 and all that entails. Especially that new baby smell and those sweet snuggles.
It's fun, it's abstract, I really like the FMQ. It's owner will love it, that's the most important part. It's hard to make a scrappy quilt look balanced, maybe it's not even supposed to be. Good luck with #4, it'll be a piece of cake with all your little helpers there :)
ReplyDeleteIt is so great to use up those bits and pieces. Love your project and the binding is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteit's just lovely, nettie!
