I'm in the throws of a t-shirt quilt for my kids swim team coach, and I'm stuck on the quilting. I'll probably end up doing a stipple, but would love some suggestions. The black sashing is throwing me.
I hope I don't hurt any feelings, but I am not a fan of t-shirt quilts. I do think it will be a nice quilt, with memories, but I would've loved to make a nice quilt and left the t-shirts out.
Tshirt quilts can be a pain - but can be very meaningful! I'm a fan of this quilting design: http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/2013/01/honeycomb-quilting.html
ReplyDeleteI usually do it about 2.5-3 inches apart, like straight lines except not! Good luck!
Oh, just throw something simple on there (grid inside the sashing?) and call it done. T-shirt quilts are my favorite, but not for how they look or how they finish - for how they feel! That's the true boon. Don't get hung up on the details!
ReplyDeleteI've always wondered about T-shirt quilts...do you starch them to keep the jersey from shifting?
ReplyDeleteDid you put the pellon interface under the shirt to prevent stretching. When I make tshirt quilts I always use Pellon 950 interfacing. The shirts are flat, they never move or stretch and are easily quilted with a large meander.
ReplyDeleteoh I love it! good job!!! my son recently gave me all his cross country and track shirts to make him a tshirt quilt, I am so terrified to start!
