quilt along week 9

I really like this one.
It's different, and almost doesn't look like a star...
Still haven't started on my setting blocks... still debating between green and blue.
Maybe I will do blue setting blocks and green backing or binding...I don't usually have such a hard time making color decisions.

scrappy quilt #3

I'll be taking my time on this quilt, just a few squares at a time--each square is 4 inches. It's much more labor intensive (and precise) than my last few quilts (though pretty mild), but I love it already.

Scrap quilt #2 is moving right along, and I am lovin' this quilt! It's a good thing we have more than enough quilts in our home, or I might be tempted to keep it.

I have given up on this quilt...I just can't make it work. I have the top completed and I'm not happy with it. I need to walk away from it for a while.On to a new scrap quilt inspired by this quilt. I am really excited to make this one, I've had it on my to-do list for a while now.

And while we are talking inspiration, I really like this quilt...another one on my to-do list!

quilt along week 7

My kids and my etsy shop have kept me pretty busy this week. Not much time for quilting. It's been a good break. It's better to wish I was quilting than to wish I wasn't.

I did find time to finish week 7's quilt block.Now I've really got to get started on my setting blocks. I think I have settled on a blue. I might make it scrappy, but we'll see.

I love new fabric!

Denyse Schmidt is by far my favorite quilter and designer.
I didn't need more pink fabric, but I found a great deal on ebay I couldn't pass up.
I really wish I could find more of her Flea Market Fancy line. The pink is pretty easy to find, I wish I could find some in this colorway.

fabric swap

At our family reunion this summer, the girls are going to have a fabric swap. I can't wait. Everyone will be given a piece of this fabric to use as a guide when picking out fabric. We will each bring a fat quarter to give to each girl involved. I am so excited to see what I get!

organizing

I finally got my "stash" organized, and in doing so I realized two things:

1. I have way too much fabric, which normally wouldn't be a bad thing, except...
2. I don't like A LOT of it anymore. I kept thinking to myself...what possessed me to buy this? I am a fabric hoarder. I buy fabric and wait and wait for the perfect project to use it for...until eventually I don't care for it much. It's a BAD habit.

I really want to use up. I don't want to have fabric taking up space. Maybe I will give some away. There is WAY too much good fabric out there to have so much I don't like.

On a happy note, I love having my fabric stacked and visible. I used to keep it in bins, this way it will be easier to see exactly what I have. Plus I love the nice neat piles!

mission to use up scraps

I am really trying to use up, or at least make a dent in, my scraps. I save WAY too many scraps (am I the only one?)! I really hate to throw them out... so my piles just keep growing!
My next set of quilts for the etsy shop will be scrap quilts.

My first scrap quilt, in pinks, reds, and yellows, can be found here. I am currently working on a blue one. Originally I was going to make the entire quilt like this: but I feel like it needs a little something more. I haven't decided exactly what, but it'll come to me.

The crazy thing with all this scrap business is that I feel like there's still TONS left.

weeks 5 and 6 of the quilt along...my points aren't perfect (they never are), but I refuse to pick and redo anything...it takes the fun out of quilting.

I love a vintage-y retro look, and this block is so retro to me. I don't know if it's the polka dots or what. I like it.

I decided to join crazy mom quilts quilt along. I am several weeks behind, but here is my first block...I am really into orange lately.
I debated a long time making this an orange quilt...I hope I don't get sick of it.
